In 1986, house owner Bill Heine and sculptor John Buckley put a 25ft fibreglass shark through the roof of his house in Headington, Oxford. It was erected by Mr Heine without applying for any permits. Oxford City Council tried to get rid of the shark on the grounds that the structure was unsafe – but has not succeeded.
